This month we celebrated Pride – a time where the LGBTQ+ community and allies come together to honour the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture. It is also a reminder of the progress that needs to be made, and that unfortunately, prejudice and injustices remains a reality for many from this community. As social workers, you get the opportunity to support so many children and families from different identities and backgrounds. For some of you, you may already support children from the LGBTQ+ community, and for others you may do so in the future. It’s so important that we continue to be active allies, for these children but also develop our knowledge and learning around the issues that they may also face. We also used this month as an opportunity to hold a focus group and hear some of your thoughts on how the Frontline programme helped prepare you to support LGBTQ+ children and their families. You can read some of the key takeaways below. If you would like to get involved in the next focus group and share your thoughts and experiences with us, we'll be releasing a link soon for you to register!
