Language barriers in social work - participating in research at the University of Bristol Have you ever dealt with language barriers in your work? Perhaps speaking with someone with low proficiency in English or trying to understand documents written in other languages? Lucas Nunes Vieira, an associate professor at the University of Bristol, is working on a project about language barriers in UK public services and is particularly interested in uses of tools like Google Translate. He is conducting 40-minute online interviews to learn more about what kind of language support or training may be available, whether translation technologies are used and what is most challenging about serving multilingual communities. All interview participants receive a £60 purchase voucher as a token of appreciation. He is particularly keen to hear from you if you have any opinions to share on this topic. Your participation is strictly confidential and you won't be asked to reveal any confidential information about your work. The project has had ethical approval from the University of Bristol. More information is available on the study’s participant information sheet, available below. If you’d like to participate in an interview, please send Lucas a quick message by writing to l.nunesvieira@bristol.ac.uk.
